Club member Liz Hunt undertook a trek to Machu Picchu, Peru in April 2011 to raise funds for St. Andrew's Hospice, Airdrie.

Liz writes at 2.45pm Peru time (8.45pm UK time) Saturday, 9 April 2011 : "....we have had 4 days of hard trekking through the Andes over several passes
- the highest being over 4500m. We have had plenty of rain and adventures and have seen how the Andean people live and farm at these heights."

Liz writes at 10.30am Peru time (4.30pm UK time) Tuesday, 5 April 2011 : "....the quarry for the stone was 27 miles away and the heaviest stone is over 300 tons!
They now believe the ruins were a temple to the sun."
