COMMITTEE MINUTES FROM MONDAY 8 APRIL 2002
IN AIRDRIE LIBRARY AT 7PM
Present : Pat Malone, Ken Paton, Christine McMahon, Jackie Ford, Elizabeth Evans, Jay Hunt, John Jamieson, Kenny Weldon
Apologies : Jim Muir, John Young
Easter weekend was enjoyed by everyone, unfortunately the hostel was not up to standard. Jim has sent an email complaining about it, and everyone who stayed there will be getting a full refund.
The summer programme has now been issued.
John J mentioned that there was no bus available to take members to the start of the walk at Rothesay, and also we are unable to get a bus on Saturday 8 June for the Ben Chonzie walk. It was decided to swap these walks around a bit with Ben Chonzie now on Sunday 9 June and the Rothesay walk on Saturday 15 June. Christine will make up a note to pass to everyone on the bus and also to put in remaining programmes.
Ben McDui - Kenny is collecting £11 from everyone who is going on the Ben McDui walk. John has provisionally booked places at Aviemore Youth Hostel for this.
Everyone who attended the navigation course enjoyed it, although Jackie felt more time should be spent on the hills practising as the day on the hills had to be cut short due to bad weather. John J also felt that an actual list is required on general leadership. The committee already have such a list which will be looked at and updated at the next meeting.
Jay attended Scottish Council and mentioned the need for all clubs to join the Unity Trust Banking. Ken is still awaiting on any correspondence about this.
Jay also discussed the Access Bill and although almost finalised there were still a few items still to be sorted out. He has advised that all members should write to their Liberal MP and/or the Tourism Minister. It was decided that Jay would draft a letter on the important points, these would be passed round the bus for people to sign, and any remaining will be sent out to members.
Pat stated that the form for the barbecue at St Andrews had been sent away and the Community Grant form has still to be completed.
The minutes are now being put on the web by Jim. Christine will give Jim an extra copy without the financial report.
Social events were discussed. Ideas being pony trekking, evening cruise, cruise along Kirkintilloch to Edinburgh. Everyone to try and think of more ideas for the next meeting.
