David brought up the subject of the coach funds being low. It was decided to transfer NLG funds to the coach fund.
A discussion took place re amount of money we are loosing on some walks during this summer. David tries to work out how much a long haul trip will cost members which is dependent upon numbers, reccie expenses and size of bus. Further discussion will take place before AGM re possible increase in fares.
Maureen suggested that next summer we do two walks together every two weeks. This would help with numbers as we usually get more with two walks on and would help with the money situation. Everyone agreed that this was a good idea.
Ceilidh - John stated that the Gartcosh Club was available for the 8th October. Hire of the hall is £50 and he will find out how many it holds. It was decided not to go ahead with the buffet to keep cost of tickets down and it will be stated on the tickets that a bar is available.
The 20th anniversary celebrations were a great success, with approximately 50 people attending, 20 of whom did the walk. Allan Ward’s video was very well done and it was decided we would give him a donation of a £30 voucher for Tiso as a thank you. Allan will also be approached to see if he would be willing to make copies for selling to members.
Social events for the autumn and winter will be discussed at next meeting.
The walk on Ben Nevis led by Andy Goldie was discussed. Some members had left the main group without the leader’s permission. Jay emphasised the need for all members to be aware that if they leave the main party they are no longer the responsibility of the Ramblers Association. John J mentioned that this was not clearly noted in the leaders notes which were recently handed out to all new leaders and should be updated. John stated that with the likes of Ben Nevis it was virtually impossible to expect everyone to walk at the same pace.
As this seems to be an ongoing problem we must be aware that getting good leaders is a problem and we don’t want any leaders to be upset or getting any hassle from members that they may no longer wish to lead walks. This is also relevant to Robert the driver as we all know the club would be lost without him.
