The barbecue was another successful day with good food, drink and games.
The sail at Ratho was also successful - it consisted of a 3-course meal on board the barge, and a half- hour stop, before returning to the Bridge Inn Hotel for a social stop, before heading home.
Once the Programme has been finalised, or at the least the destinations chosen, 2 - 3 bus companies will be sent a tender letter.
Ken has booked the Bowling Club for the ceilidh for Saturday 24 October, and Liz C. has the contact details for another band who will get back to her.
Suggestions for walks were discussed. A letter is to be sent to leaders to invite them to the next committee meeting.
Liz H. discussed the problems with regard to the closure of the Ramblers Scottish Office. There may be a 25% cut in the funds that we receive from the Area. There is an Area Council meeting on Tuesday 11 August and Liz will report back to the committee about what is discussed.
Liz also mentioned that Airdrie Town Hall has been booked for the Area AGM on Saturday 23 January 2010. We are now looking for suggestions for a short walk.
Our AGM will take place on Monday 2 November, venue TBA. Both of these dates will be entered into the Winter Programme.
It was agreed that the item re division of Areas should be postponed due to the existing problems around the Ramblers Scottish Office closing. Jay will email Barry Pottle to advise him of our decision.
The ten-pin bowling evening will take place on Friday 20 November.
The September weekend was discussed. As some members have been enquiring about this, Liz H. will look at accommodation options, possibly in Fort William. David also suggested Aboyne near Ballater.
Margaret will take the names for the Christmas Party Night at Newtonmore, which has been booked for Saturday 19 December. Christine will pass on the details.
Jim suggested the Antrim Glens in Northern Ireland as a weekend away option, which he has been checking out and says looks really good. This will be looked into for next Easter which falls in the period 2-5 April 2010.
Email addresses have recently been collected from members. These have been used to issue the first Email Newsletter, the contents of which contained a reminder re the sail at Ratho. Christine suggested that when we are sending out letters to leaders we ask them to provide a quick note re any reccies that they do so that the details can then be emailed to club members.
Jim mentioned the costs for the Kerrera Island / Cruachan Power Station outing. It will cost an extra £11 for those wishing to go to both of these. The Power Station will be visited first before the group proceed to Kerrera in Oban Bay. Separate costs are £5.50 for the Power Station and £5 for the ferry to Kerrera.
