IN AIRDRIE LIBRARY AT 7PM
Present : Pat Malone, Ken Paton, Christine McMahon, Jim Muir, John Young, Jackie Ford, Elizabeth Evans, Jay Hunt, John Jamieson
Apologies : Kenny Weldon
The club name was discussed in detail and it was agreed that we change the name to Monklands Ramblers and Hillwalkers, still with the Monk on the front and a watermark of a walker inside the notes section.
John produced the draft summer programme which was discussed in detail He has suggested an overnight stay at the beginning of May to do Ben Macdui and an easier walk if a leader can be found. The committee chose the walks they were going to lead.
Suggested social events for the summer were: boat trip, bowling, Greek night.
There are a few interested in the ski trip. Jackie will check on next walk to see if anyone else is interested.
The ceilidh is all arranged, Christine to purchase £20 Tisos voucher, Kenny will go down on Saturday afternoon and check the layout of the tables.
The navigation course will go ahead in March with two Tuesday nights in the library and one day out on the hills. There are 8 people attending.
It was decided that leaders should delegate other people to help members over stiles, fences, burns etc, as when the leader does this people were starting to walk away and the leader had then to try and catch up.
Jay mentioned that the Access Bill went through OK, and will be discussed in detail at the Scottish Council. Either Jay or Pat will attend the Scottish Council On 23/24 March for one or both days.
Jay will bring along forms at next meeting for applying for grants from Councils.
Elizabeth produced the leaflets to be left in libraries, sports centres etc. Ken’s phone number will have to be changed for future leaflets.
