IN KEN & LINDAS' HOUSE, CALDERCRUIX, AT 7.30PM

Present : Jay Hunt, David Dunn, Ken Paton, Jim Muir, Liz Cushley, Fiona Thomson, John Young, Willie Murphy

Apologies : Christine McMahon, Maureen O’Donnell

Approved : Fiona Thomson Seconded : David Dunn

White Water Rafting – Jay has made enquiries via a web site and stated that the cost was £75.00 per person. It was decided that this would be too expensive so Jay will try other operators to find a more suitable cost.

Barbeque – Liz has been in touch with the ferry company and arrange the crossing. Liz will arrange to get the food, drink and any games she thinks could be useful. David has the Tug o War rope and will arrange to get it to Liz.

St Andrews Night Ceilidh – Ken has investigated the availablility of Airdrie Town Hall and the Benachally Ceilidh Band. The hall is fully booked through October and November and the band had only a couple of dates available. Some discussion took place and it was decided that having a Ceilidh so close to Christmas was not really a good idea and that we would be better leaving it until our usual Ceilidh if February or early March.

Aviemore Walking Festival 2007 – Some discussion took place following David and Ken’s suggestion at the last meeting. Jay raised some points about accommodation and the fact that the start of the Festival is not a Bank Holiday. Ken suggested that there is plenty, B and B and Bunkhouse. David pointed out that if people wanted to go they could travel to Aviemore Friday evening and take a holiday on the Monday. Ken will contact the Festival Organisers and try to get some info about the walks available. We will prepare a flyer for the Group Members and start things rolling by End August.

Committee Meetings – David suggested that we should maybe find somewhere else for the Committee Meetings as the Imperial Bar has opened up the usual area we used. This has made the whole area busier and noisier making it harder to hold discussions. David has suggested the Indoor Bowling Club and will make enquiries.

Newsletter – Some discussion took place regarding the next Group Newsletter. Jay stated that the next Newsletter is planned for end of August and asked for content suggestions.

Area Treasurer – David has had some communication from the area regarding opening a Second Account for the Groups own money, ie, GPF, Social and Coach Fund combined into one account and the RA fund using the existing account.

Area Meeting – Willie raised the subject of Shorter Walks which was discussed at the last Area meeting. Willie indicated that the R.A. wanted Groups to try organising shorter walks and more local walks to encourage new members. Some discussion took place and it was pointed out that the Group tried organising short midweek walks a few years ago. The result at that time was that very few people turned out for these walks and that most wanted to venture into other areas. An advice sheet is available from Ken should anyone wish to have a look.
