Annandale Water Service Station (M74)

Restaurant:- Recently won the award for the best cup of tea in Britain.

Arrochar (A83)

The Pit Stop Diner / Cafe:- Situated on the waterfront adjacent to the public toilets. Good cafe with efficient service. Ample parking for coaches and cars. Offers a fast carry-out service for chips, fish-suppers etc.

Auchterarder (A824 / A9)

The Fish and Chip Company:- Excellent large fish and chip shop on the main street close to the main car park / public toilets.

The Tea Room:- Recently modernised "back-shop" tea room situated on the Main Street just across from the main car park / public toilets. Offers friendly service and excellent value for money.

Biggar (A702)

Townhead Cafe:- Excellent cafe on Main Street offering speedy service and excellent bacon rolls.

Bridge of Orchy (A82)

Bridge of Orchy Hotel:- Good quality hotel catering mainly for West Highland Way walkers.

Brodick, Isle of Arran (A841)

The Isle of Arran Hotel:- Pleasant waterfront location, relaxed atmosphere and large garden with palm trees(!). Also serves very good bar meals.

Callander (A84)

The Tasty Fry Chip Shop:- Situated on the Main Street, this chip shop must rank as one of the busiest and also one of the most popular in Scotland. On Summer weekend evenings it is frequently queued out onto the pavement!

The Threshold Tea Room:- Quaint little tea-room situated on the Main Street, boasting superb bacon rolls and home-baking.

The Riverside Bar:- Comfortable bar situated on the Main Street offering good food and drink as well as satellite TV.

Crianlarich (A82 / A85)

Crianlarich Station Tea Room:- Good tea room situated on the platform of this West Highland Line railway station. A favourite watering-hole for weary walkers traversing the West Highland Way.

Crieff (A822)

Crieff Visitor Centre:- Situated on the Muthill road, this high-quality centre has a large restaurant, shops and toilets, and ample parking for coaches and cars.

Croy (B802)

Canavan's Old Shop Takeaway:- Situated 50 yards from the Croy Tavern, good hot food at reasonable prices.

Dollar (A91)

Armstrong's Scottish Tea Room:- Situated on the Main Street, this is a first-class tea room offering high standards of food, cleanliness and service.

Drymen (A809 / A811)

The Clachan Inn:- The oldest pub in Scotland (established 1734), offering excellent food and very friendly, attentive service.

Dunkeld (A9)

Royal Dunkeld Hotel:- Comfortable bar and attractive outside patio for warmer days. Also stages excellent ceilidhs several times a year.

The Osprey Chip Shop:- Good old-style chippie situated on the Main Street. Overseen by friendly staff.

Glasgow

Harry Ramsden's Chip Shop and Restaurant:- Situated on Paisley Road West with easy access from the Kingston Bridge / M8 Motorway. Ample parking for coaches and cars - simply brilliant!

Glen Coe (A82)

KingsHouse Hotel:- This hotel sits on the edge of Rannoch Moor and is over-shadowed by the massive Buachaille Etive Mor. It must rank as one of the most spectacular locations for a hotel in the U.K. It offers good accommodation, food and drink, and has a bar solely for the use of walkers (i.e. no one bothers about your dirty boots!) It is frequented by many walkers traversing the West Highland Way.

Grantown-on-Spey (A95 / A939)

The Tyree House Hotel:- Situated on the Main Street, this hotel boasts a very comfortable bar which serves (amongst other things) excellent ice cream! Look out for the numerous darts trophies on display.

Greenock (A8)

Tesco Supermarket Cafe / Restaurant:- This is an excellent cafe situated in the town centre supermarket. It is open seven days a week and there is easy parking for coaches. It offers snacks and rolls etc. at very reasonable prices.

Argyll and Sutherland Bar, Bruce Street, PA14 4LL:- Good small pub with ample parking at the rear. However, two warning points.... (i) the one-way road system in the vicinity of the pub is an absolute nightmare!, (ii) beware of sitting in the regulars' seats on a Saturday afternoon!

Inveroran

Inveroran Forest Lodge:- Remote hotel on the edge of Rannoch Moor (N.W. of Bridge of Orchy on the West Highland Way). Very nice hotel and bar where you really feel that you are miles from anywhere.

Kingussie (A86 / A9)

The Silver Fjord Hotel- Situated beside the railway station, this hotel offers superb good value bar meals.

Largs (A75)

Nardini's Cafe:- This famous cafe is situated on the sea-front and is worth a visit to sample the superb range of ice creams. Tends to be rather expensive and also gets very busy in the summer months due to day-trippers from Glasgow.

Melrose (A6091)

Abbey Tea Room:- Situated beside the abbey and immediately adjacent to good parking for coaches and cars - very pleasant small tea room.

Moffat (A701)

The Rumbling Tum Diner / Cafe:- Situated on the Main Street with ample parking for coaches and cars nearby. Also very close to the Moffat Toffee Shop, which boasts one of the largest ranges of confectionery in Scotland.

Peebles (A72)

The Tatler Cafe:- Situated on the Main Street, this is a first-class cafe which boasts friendly, efficient service and superb bacon rolls.

Penicuik (A701)

Edinburgh Crystal Factory Tea Room:- Open seven days a week all year round and has ample parking for coaches and cars.

Pitlochry (A9)

McKay's Hotel:- Situated on the Main Street, this is a very comfortable hotel with a large bar and lounge and a nice patio for summer days also. Good chip shop situated next door.

Rannoch Station (B846)

Rannoch Station Tea Room:- Situated on the island platform of the West Highland Line railway station - the best railway tea room in the U.K.! Particularly reknowned for friendly service and excellent home-baking.

Rothesay, Isle of Bute (A844)

The Copper Kettle:- Good cafe / restaurant situated in Victoria Street on the sea front. Also close to the ferry terminal.

Tillicoultry (A91)

Mathieson's Restaurant:- Situated within the "Sterling" retail village, this is an excellent large restaurant / cafe that deals with bus parties quickly and efficiently. Adjacent to a very large car park, a wide variety of shops and the famous "Sterling" furniture warehouse.

Tyndrum (A82 / A85)

Green Welly Shop and Restaurant:- Excellent large shop selling Scottish souvenirs and gifts as well as outdoor gear. Large efficient restaurant with good quality food. Ample parking for coaches and cars. Tends to get very busy during the summer months.

Invervey Hotel:- Good clean hotel offering excellent bar meals. Frequented by many walkers traversing the West Highland Way.
