Transport

We run a minibus or 53 seater coach to all walks. Ramblers Association members and prospective new members get priority when booking place(s) on a walk. Places can be booked by "signing in" on the previous walk, via email as detailed below, or by 'phoning the leader. The bus picks up for all walks at Coatbridge Leisure Centre ("The Time Capsule") and just behind Airdrie Town Hall. Walks usually alternate between Saturdays and Sundays. Smokers are requested to sit at the back of the bus. Social stops at the start and end of walks are at the leader's discretion. While the committee have tried to ensure that alternative walks finish as near the same time as possible, it is inevitable that differences will occur. Please be patient.

Walking

When walking with the club adequate footwear and clothing are essential. Be prepared for adverse weather conditions. Carry a packed lunch. Boots are essential on "A" and "B" grade walks and are recommended on "C" grade walks. The Ramblers Association cannot take responsibility for damage or loss incurred on a ramble or other club activity. Follow the Country Code : close gates, take litter home, face oncoming traffic etc. Please do not walk in front of the leader or leave a ramble without informing the leader. Children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult. All those interested in walking are welcome to join the group, but we would expect those taking part on a regular basis to join the Ramblers Association. Please inform the leader of any medical condition which you have which he / she should be aware of. Please also see the important notices here regarding 'no shows' for walks, conduct on walks, Ramblers Association membership and litter - thanks.

The O.S. column below indicates the Ordnance Survey Landranger map number as well as giving a general indication of the area covered by the map - you can buy any of these maps, or general hill-walking books, at discounted rates from amazon.co.uk. Clicking on the walk description (where appropriate) will provide a very detailed map of the area of the walk. Distances are approximate and may vary. Walks may be subject to change on the day - notice will be given where possible via the "Latest News" banner below. Note also that "Munro" pronunciations below are courtesy of www.munromagic.com.

Distance and Height Conversion

Height - Metres Multiplied by 3.3 = Feet
150 Metres = 500 Feet Approximately
Distance - Kilometres Multiplied by 5 / 8 = Miles
16 Kilometres = 10 Miles Approximately

More details about the walks are available by email :   enquiries@monklandsramblers.org.uk
